Burnout Prevention and Recovery
Assessment and guidance tools
We are living in a burnout epidemic.
My almost two decades of research into the relationship between mental health and work has given me a wealth of insight into the causes and cures of burnout.
My experience has included engaging with a vast range of organisations in relation to best practice in supporting burnout prevention and recovery, from massive multinational corporates through to small community groups and individuals, and a vast amount in between!
I have led initiatives to coproduce guidance for employers through wide consultation and involvement of diverse stakeholders including people impacted by burnout and other mental health issues, employers, NHS mental health commissioners and practitioners, charities, advocacy groups and other 3rd sector representatives, and many more.
I believe we are in an age where we need to move beyond mental health awareness and beyond mental health first aid, and towards real changes in culture and practice in organisations of all kinds. An important part of this is tools that help us to measure mental health and psychological wellbeing.
I have boiled the fruits of all my experience and insight into the following practical burnout assessment tools for individuals, teams, and organisations.
The Tools
BURNOUT LEVEL ASSESSMENT
It can be hard to recognise or be sure of when you are actually burned out already.
This assessment answers the question "Am I currently burned out?".
It looks at signs and symptoms which suggest burnout.
It gives you an overall burnout level score, as well as sub-scores of your level of physical, cognitive, emotional and behavioural signs.
The assessment also gives recommendations based on your overall score and sub-scores.
BURNOUT PREVENTION ASSESSMENT
It's crucial in this day and age with it's volume and complexities of pressures that we all take care to prevent burnout and it's potentially catastrophic consequences.
If you are already burned out then this means preventing burnout getting deeper.
This assessment answers the question "What is my risk level of burning out, and how can I reduce it?"
